Harvest Thanksgiving 2026 – supporting Edinburgh SE Foodbank

Harvest Thanksgiving Service – Edinburgh SE Foodbank: This year’s Harvest Service is being held on 27th September at 10.30am when we will, once again, be supporting the work of the SE Edinburgh Foodbank, based at Southhouse Broadway. The Foodbank caters for those requiring support in the EH16 and EH17 postal areas, helping around 150 people every month. This year we have been asked to donate several specific items where stocks are running particularly low. These are cereal, tinned meat/fish, tinned spaghetti, tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit/veg, UHT milk, fruit juice (cartons or diluting), custard, rice pudding, jam/honey and instant mashed potato. The Foodbank is unable to accept fresh fruit and veg or jars of homemade jam or chutney. Please also remember that, when donating, the items must be in date. Please hand in any donations into the Braid Hall immediately before the 10.30am service. The South East Foodbank has recently set up as an independent charity (SCO055116) and if you wish to make a financial donation the bank details are – payable to South East Edinburgh Foodbank, sort code 83-91-46 and the account number is 73014363. A number of people make donations of food and/or money throughout the year, which is hugely appreciated. Harvest is an opportunity for everyone to make a contribution to helping those struggling to make ends meet during this present cost-of-living crisis. Finally, if anyone can help with receiving the donations on the 27th, or is available (with a car) to assist taking the donations to Southhouse on the morning of the 28th, please contact Fiona Stewart on 531 9688, or see her at church one Sunday. Around six volunteers on the Sunday and five on the Monday would be very welcome.
